LeT militant arrested in Sumbal, Police claims

Police on Friday claimed that they arrested a local LeT militant from Markundal area of Sumbal town in Bandipora district, reports said.

Police sources said that the arrest was made after acting on specific information received by District Police Bandipora regarding movement of the militants in the Markundal Pushwari area.

Accordingly a joint ambush was laid in the orchards by police and 13 RR personnel during which a suspicious movement was noticed. The suspected was challenged to stop but he tried to run away however forces over powered and apprehended him. He was identified as Shabaz Rasool Mir S/O Ghulam Rasool Mir R/o Mir Mohalla Hajin, a locally trained militant of LeT, police said, police said.

A Chinese pistol, 4 rounds, 1 Hand grenade, 1 knife were recovered from his possession, police sources said.

Case FIR No.83/2017 has been registered at PS Sumbal in this regard.
