SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit associate along with arms and ammunition in North Kashmir’s Baramulla.

A police spokesperson in a statement said, “Police along with security forces arrested militant associate linked with proscribed militant outfit LeT and recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition from his possession in Baramulla.”

“On a specific input of militant movement in Kreeri area, a joint Naka was established at Shrakwara Kreeri near Bus Stand by Baramulla Police & Army 52 RR. During naka checking suspicious movement of one person coming towards naka point by foot was observed. While seeing police party and security forces, the suspect person tried to flee from the spot but alert naka party apprehended him tactfully,” it further reads.

The accused has been identified as Imran Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Qayoom Ganie resident of Nowpora Wagoora Kreeri. “During his search 1 Chinese Pistol, 1 Pistol Magazine, 9 Pistol Rounds & 1 Mobile Phone (Samsung) was recovered from his possession,” reads the statement.

“In this regard, case under sections UA (P) & Arms Act has been registered in PS Kreeri and investigation has been taken up”, it adds. (GNS)
