SRINAGAR: A militant associate of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was apprehended by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, according to police sources.

Acting on intelligence regarding militant movement in Nagbal village, security forces set up a mobile vehicle checkpoint at Shranz Crossing Nagbal. When a person tried to flee upon spotting the security personnel, he was tactfully apprehended.

The individual, identified as Mohammad Ashraf Mir from Laridoora Chandoosa, was found in possession of a grenade and taken into custody.

Mir, a surrendered militant, had been working as an associate of the LeT. A case has been registered under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and investigations are underway.
