LeT Militant Killed in Budgam Operation Identified as Pakistani National Yasir: Police

   

SRINAGAR: The militant killed during a joint security operation in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam district has been identified as Yasir, a Pakistani national affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Saturday.

The police confirmed the identity in a post on X, stating that Yasir was killed during Operation Ashdar, which was launched following specific intelligence inputs.

The operation involved the Indian Army, JK Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

According to the Army, security forces detected suspicious movement during the operation and challenged the suspected militants, who opened fire. The ensuing exchange of fire resulted in the killing of one militant.

An AK-series rifle and other war-like stores were recovered from the site, the Army said.

The operation had been continuing since Thursday, with security forces carrying out searches in the area following the encounter.

Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar, visited the operation site on Friday and reviewed the security situation and progress of the search operation.
