Police on Tuesday claimed that LeT militant Showkat Ahmad Tak alias Shoga was killed in an encounter in open field at Yaripora Kulgam.
The death was confirmed by Superintendent of Police, Muhammad Shafi saying that the deceased was a resident of Punjgama, Pulwama and was working for LeT.
But when Showkat’s family was called for identification. It was found out that the deceased militant was in fact Shabir Ahmad Mir, Group Commander LeT of Chonigam, Kulgam and not Showkat as confirmed earlier.
The operation was jointly carried by CRPF and STF.
