Strongly condemning the sealing of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Hyderpora head office, raids and arrest spree in valley and use of “excessive and brutal force against the pro-freedom people” to stop the proposed “Million March” program, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani Monday said, “the government has no moral, constitutional and legal justifications in stopping the scheduled ‘Million March’ program.”

“If communal and non-state people can hold rallies in Kashmir, then why are the citizens of this state not allowed to do the same?” he asked.

Terming the statement of police that “the Million March will create law and order problems” as their “traditional and old excuse”, Geelani, according to Hurriyat (g) statement, said, “actually the forces are itself disturbing the law and order situations by banning and using excessive and unnecessary force against the peaceful programs of the pro-freedom people.” “We had taken the responsibility of the law and order situations and we had assured that the proposed million march will be peaceful and disciplined in every way and that event will not create any law and order problem and nor will that disturb the traffic system but the administration and the government forces displayed a worst face of state terrorism and started a massive arrest spree under which hundreds of pro-freedom leaders, activists and innocent students have been arrested and detained in different police stations and jails so far.”

Commenting on the announcement of “financial package” by the Indian Prime Minister in Kashmir, octogenarian Hurriyat leader said, “we will not surrender our birth and basic rights even if India will construct our roads with gold. If prime minister of India is sincere then let him announce the Package for which the Kashmiri people are waiting since 1947 and for which our nation has offered tremendous sacrifices so far. Let him fulfil those forgotten promises which the former rulers of India had made with the simple and peace loving people of Jammu & Kashmir at both national and international forums that the people of the state will be given a chance to decide their future through a free and fair referendum process.”

Geelani, who remains continuous house detention for over five months now, added, “and this package is the permanent, peaceful and only solution to the hardships and miseries of the Kashmiri people.”

Geelani further said, “the details of the “Packages” announced by the different rulers of India in Kashmir till date is that their occupational forces has killed more than 6 lakh innocent and unarmed civilians in Jammu & Kashmir. Ten thousand civilian has been subjected to the forced custodial disappearance and the same number of people have been killed in the custody of these government forces while as more than 7 thousand innocent and unknown persons have been buried in unmarked graves located in the frontier areas of Kashmir. 7.5 thousand daughters and sisters of our nation have been raped or molested by the Indian occupational forces till date and none of the involved personal have been prosecuted or punished so far. They (Indian Rulers) have come up with the PSA, AFSPA, TADA, POTA and DAA like black, inhuman and outdated laws for the people of Jammu & Kashmir.”

Terming the statement of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in which he has termed Modi’s visit as historical event as “too far from the reality”, Geelani added, “the Kashmir visit of Narendra Modi is not any historical but is aimed to push the people of the state into further darkness.”

Lashing out at “political maturity” statement of Mufti Sayeed, Geelani said, “the condition of his ‘political maturity’ is that in the greed of power, he handed destiny of the people of Jammu & Kashmir into the cruel hands of RSS like communal and fascist forces who only know the language of force and fanatics and who want to eliminate every such person who does not agrees with them. It is his ‘political maturity’ that he left the entire human population of the state over the mercy of the anti-human forces.”

He said that the people of Kashmir have always rejected those packages which were announced to “buy their freedom sentiments”. “Whenever Indian rulers come to Kashmir and announce financial packages, they give one package and took away ten like packages in the form of power and other natural resources. The Kashmiri people are now a matured nation and they know the deceitful tactics of India and their paid local agents who work for their salaries.”

Meanwhile Geelani condemned the continuous crackdown on the pro-freedom people and the further arrests of hundreds of Hurriyat leaders and the common people which include Gh Nabi Sumji, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Rayees Ahmad Mir, Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Andrabi, Dr GM Ganai, Mushtaq Ahmad Shaikh, Maqbool Chadoora, Jahangir Ahmad Ahangar, Fayaz Ahmad, Imtiyaz Ahmad Gooru and Abdul Gaffar Rather.

While appealing the people to be “ready for the Million March and make this program a success”, Geelani said, “the restrictions, arrests and excesses will not deter us from demanding our just and genuine democratic demands.”
