SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have busted LeT module and arrested three militant associates in north Kashmir’s Handwara town in Kupwara district.

A police spokesman on credible input police in Handwara have arrested three militant associates identified as Syed Iftikhar Indrabi son of Syed Ateequlla Indrabi resident of Laribal Rajwar Handwara, Abdul Moomin Peer and Islam Ul Haq Peer sons of Mohammad Ashraf Peer both residents of Waskura Handwara.

He said that incriminating materials including cash Rs 1.34 Crore, Heroine weighing 21Kgs (worth 100 Crore market value) and a cash counting machine were recovered from their possession.

“The other persons involved in the crime have been identified and all efforts are on to arrest them,” said the spokesman.

“The module was in close connection with Pakistan based militant handlers and was involved in the drug trade and assisting financially to active militants of proscribed outfit LeT. The above recoveries also exposed the nexus between drug dealers and militants,” he said.

The spokesman said that the module was working for LeT outfit to strengthen their activities in the valley besides misguiding and motivating the local youth to join militant folds.

“Case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and investigation has been taken up through a special investigation team (SIT). The SIT so constituted shall unearth the nexus between accused and outfits, radicals, smugglers and other anti-national elements,” said the spokesman.
