A student of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) from Kashmir, Basim Hilal, was allegedly booked by the district police on Friday for the ‘objectionable’ tweet on Pulwama attack that has claimed the lives of 49 CRPF men.

According to report published by The Times Of India said that the suspect wrote, “high on JAISH (e Mohammad)” after Pulwama attack in his tweet, which was not available later as he presumably deactivated his account.

The report said that he was booked under sections 153A (promoting enmity between two different religions) and 67 (for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.

Basim Hilal, BSc Mathematics student, has been suspended by the university. The student has also been banned from entering into the campus, reported The Times Of India.

Earlier, the spokesperson of the varsity, Shafey Kidwai had said, “We are trying to identify the student and necessary action will be taken after that.”
