Divisional commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba was among two militants killed in a gunfight with government forces in Qazigund area of southern Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday, police said.

In a tweet, Director General of police SP Vaid identified the two militants as Furkan and Abu Mavia.

He said that Furkan had taken over as Divisional commander of LeT after the death of Abu Ismail.

An army soldier was killed and another injured in the gunfight while three civilians were injured in ensuing clashes in Bounigam area of Qazigund.

Sources said two civilians were hit by pellets while the third one sustained a bullet injury during the clashes.

The injured were shifted to Qazigund Emergency and Trauma Hospital where from they were referred to District Hospital Anantnag for specialized treatment.
