SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting to review the overall management, security arrangements and ground situation of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, officials said.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor took a detailed review of pilgrim movement, traffic regulation, security arrangements, accommodation facilities, registration status and other logistical measures put in place for the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
Officials informed the meeting that a large number of pilgrims have been arriving in Jammu and Kashmir without valid registration, leading to increased waiting time and inconvenience for devotees.
The Lieutenant Governor said the Yatra is being conducted as per the prescribed daily limit on the movement of pilgrims on the tracks in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court. He stressed that following the registration schedule is essential to ensure the safety, security and convenience of all pilgrims.
The administration reiterated that only pilgrims having valid registration for their designated date will be allowed to proceed towards the Holy Cave Shrine.
LG Sinha appealed to intending pilgrims who have not registered to postpone their travel for the next few days to avoid inconvenience after reaching Jammu and Kashmir.
The administration also advised devotees to complete the mandatory registration process and obtain a valid Yatra Registration Permit before beginning their journey, making it clear that pilgrims without confirmed registration will not be permitted to undertake the Yatra.
The Lieutenant Governor also reviewed security and logistical preparedness and directed all departments and security agencies to work in close coordination. He asked officials to maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including langar organisations, service providers and NGOs, to ensure a safe, smooth and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP J&K Nalin Prabhat, Special DG Coordination PHQ S J M Gillani, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Joint Director Intelligence Bureau Pankaj Thakur, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor and CEO Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board Dr Mandeep K Bhandari, along with senior officers of civil administration, police, security forces and other departments.
