SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday visited the Nunwan Base Camp in Pahalgam and reviewed the arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, directing officials to ensure the safety, security, and convenience of pilgrims.
During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor chaired a meeting with senior civil and security officials to assess various aspects of the pilgrimage, including the movement of devotees, security arrangements, accommodation facilities, registration process, and other logistical requirements.
Sinha directed officials to maintain close coordination on the ground and ensure timely redressal of grievances faced by pilgrims.
“Prioritize the safety, security, and convenience of all pilgrims, while ensuring that every devotee of Baba Barfani is made aware of the importance of valid registration with designated dates to minimize waiting times,” the Lieutenant Governor told officials.
He also interacted with pilgrims at the base camp and assured them that the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) and all departments involved in yatra management were working round the clock to provide a safe, smooth, and hassle-free spiritual journey.
The Lieutenant Governor asked officers to adopt a pilgrim-centric approach and ensure that devotees do not face inconvenience. He said assistance should be extended, as per prescribed procedures, in cases where members of the same family arrive together but one of them faces registration-related issues while others have valid permits.
Expressing concern over reports of some travel agents allegedly facilitating fake registrations, Sinha directed police and concerned authorities to identify those involved and take strict legal action against them.
The Lieutenant Governor was accompanied by Principal Secretary to LG and CEO Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board Dr Mandeep K Bhandari, IGP Kashmir V K Birdi, IGP Traffic J&K M Suleman Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports Department and Nodal Officer for Pahalgam Axis Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, SSP Anantnag Amod Nagpure Ashok, DG Rural Sanitation J&K Anoo Malhotra and other senior officers of the administration, police and security forces.
