SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday reviewed the security situation and strategic preparedness across the Union Territory, directing officials to intensify operations against terror and narco-terror networks and strengthen area domination measures.
Sinha chaired a high-level meeting attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, senior police officers, divisional commissioners, DIGs and other officials.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor called for sustained pressure on terror networks and greater coordination among agencies to deal with emerging threats.
He also directed officials to intensify action against drug smugglers and narco-terror networks, while asking authorities to strengthen monitoring of emerging digital threats.
Sinha stressed the need for greater police-public engagement and directed police officials to designate specific hours for direct interaction with citizens and grievance redressal.
Reviewing the functioning of police stations, he called for transparent, impartial and sensitive handling of complaints and directed officers to ensure professionalism in investigations.
“The police must maintain a strong and continuous engagement with the public. Every genuine grievance must be addressed with sensitivity and every investigation must be conducted with absolute fairness, transparency and impartiality,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also called for closer monitoring of social media platforms to counter misinformation, anti-national propaganda and online blackmailing.
The DGP and Principal Secretary Home briefed Sinha on the overall security situation, while IGPs, DIGs and divisional commissioners apprised him of the situation in their respective areas, including anti-terror operations, law and order, drug smuggling and other emerging challenges.
Sinha directed officials to maintain heightened vigilance, ensure seamless coordination among agencies and adopt a proactive approach to maintaining peace and law and order across Jammu and Kashmir.
