SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday extended greetings and best wishes to the people of the Union Territory on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
The Lieutenant Governor’s Office, in a post on X, conveyed its greetings to the people and wished them happiness and well-being on the festival.
“Heartiest greetings and best wishes to all on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan,” the LG’s office said.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also greeted the people, describing Raksha Bandhan as a celebration of the bond of love, trust and mutual respect shared by siblings.
Omar expressed hope that the festival would bring happiness, peace and prosperity to households across Jammu and Kashmir and contribute to strengthening unity and harmony in the region.
Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi, is being observed on Friday, August 28, with sisters traditionally tying a sacred thread, or rakhi, on their brothers’ wrists and praying for their well-being and long life. Brothers, in turn, offer gifts and reaffirm their commitment to supporting and protecting their sisters.
