SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday extended greetings to teachers on Teachers’ Day and paid tribute to former President, philosopher and eminent educationist Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary.
In a message shared through the social media platform X, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted Dr Radhakrishnan’s contribution to education, philosophy and public life, saying his visionary legacy continued to inspire generations.
“Heartiest greetings to the teachers on Teachers’ Day. Humble tributes to the great educationist, philosopher, and former President, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Ji, on his Janm-Jayanti,” the Lieutenant Governor’s Office said.
Sinha underlined the important role of teachers in shaping the character and future of young people, particularly in nurturing knowledge, values, discipline and a sense of responsibility among students.
He said teachers play a crucial role in developing a progressive and responsible society and acknowledged their dedication and contribution to education and nation-building.
Teachers’ Day is observed across India on September 5 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Radhakrishnan and recognise the contribution of teachers towards education and the development of students.
Educational institutions mark the occasion through various programmes, with students expressing their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers.
