SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday extended greetings to weavers and craftspeople on National Handloom Day, highlighting their role in preserving the country’s cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship.
In a message posted by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor on X, Sinha praised the creativity, skill and dedication of handloom artisans, saying their work represents India’s diverse cultural identity and centuries-old traditions.
The Lieutenant Governor called for collective efforts to protect the country’s handloom traditions while strengthening the economic well-being of artisans who sustain the sector.
He also underlined the handloom industry’s importance as a source of livelihood for thousands of families and as an expression of India’s cultural and artistic heritage.
Sinha urged people to support local weavers and promote indigenous handloom products as part of efforts to preserve and strengthen the traditional sector.
National Handloom Day is observed across the country to recognise the contribution of weavers and raise awareness about the cultural and economic significance of the handloom sector.
