LG Sinha Hails Rescue Teams After Safe Evacuation of Tourists from Gulmarg Gondola

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday commended the disaster response teams, Army, police and civil administration for the successful rescue of around 400 tourists stranded mid-air following a technical fault in the Gulmarg Gondola cable car system.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said the entire nation stands united in applauding the exceptional bravery and professionalism displayed by the rescue teams during the six-hour operation.

He said personnel from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), district administration and senior police officers acted swiftly to safely evacuate all passengers stranded in 65 cable cars.

“All tourists are safe,” Sinha said, adding that he personally spoke to senior officials and directed them to ensure all necessary assistance was extended to the rescued tourists.

“The nation salutes the disaster response forces, Army, JK Police and district administration for their courage and remarkable skill,” he added.
