LG Sinha Honours Veterans, Veer Naris on 10th Armed Forces Day

   

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday paid homage to ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their families at a commemorative event marking the 10th Armed Forces Veterans Day at ALG Rajouri.

Addressing a large gathering, the LG expressed gratitude to veterans and serving army personnel for prioritising the nation’s safety above their own. He described armed forces veterans as “living history” whose sacrifices have safeguarded India’s freedom and shaped its destiny.

Highlighting that the commitment of soldiers extends beyond active service, the LG said, “The courage of veterans is not limited to the battlefield but also in establishing peace and ensuring the nation’s progress.”

The LG inaugurated a “Wall of Fame” and launched a dedicated police helpline for veterans, reaffirming the government’s focus on the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A mega Ex-Servicemen Rally was held, during which mobility aids, including motorised wheelchairs and retrofitted scooters, were distributed to veterans and Veer Naris.

Senior military and civil officials present included Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command; Lt Gen PK Mishra, GOC White Knight Corps; Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherjee, GOC 25 Infantry Division; Brig Pankaj Chib (Retd), Director Sainik Welfare; along with prominent citizens and legislators.

The LG also paid tribute to Field Marshal KM Cariappa, Second Lieutenant Ram Raghoba Rane, Brigadier Mohammad Usman, Naik Jadunath Singh, and other bravehearts of Rajouri.
