Speaking at the inauguration, the Lieutenant Governor said the government’s focus remains on strengthening the healthcare system through modern infrastructure, skilled professionals and robust public-private partnerships. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have built new medical colleges, thousands of health and wellness centres, and introduced universal health insurance to make quality healthcare accessible to all,” he said.

Sinha noted that nearly 90 percent of Jammu Kashmir’s population is now covered under the universal health insurance scheme with coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family. He added that the Union Territory’s improved healthcare infrastructure is also attracting private investment, further boosting the sector.

He urged for judicious utilisation of existing resources and compassionate service delivery to meet the needs of patients.
