Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor said the integrated system would contribute to a safer and more efficient experience for pilgrims undertaking the Shri Amarnathji Yatra. He emphasised the need for robust coordination and swift response mechanisms to effectively manage large-scale pilgrim movement.

Developed by the district administration, the facility consolidates CCTV feeds from across Ganderbal, including those installed by civil administration, police and security agencies, enabling centralised real-time surveillance from a single command point.

The centre is also equipped with a 24×7 emergency citizen helpline to provide immediate assistance, support crisis response and strengthen ground-level coordination during emergencies.

Officials said the system additionally incorporates live CCTV feeds from Baltal Base Camp, key approach roads to Baltal, parking facilities, Sonamarg and the Manigam Transit Camp, ensuring continuous monitoring of vital pilgrimage routes.

Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the key operational features of the centre, noting its importance in preparedness, coordination and decision-making during the Yatra period.

The integrated control room is expected to function as a central coordination hub for multiple agencies involved in security, logistics and disaster management throughout the pilgrimage season.
