SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday inaugurated the Regional Business Centre of Jammu Kashmir Bank at the Rail Head Complex in Jammu, marking a key step in the bank’s infrastructure expansion and operational strengthening in the region.

The Lieutenant Governor congratulated the bank’s management and staff, describing the new facility as a significant addition to its growing institutional framework. Designed as an integrated and technology-enabled hub, the centre is expected to enhance service delivery, streamline administrative processes and improve overall operational efficiency.
The facility will function as a major operational and administrative base, equipped with upgraded customer interface areas and backend systems aimed at faster decision-making and improved coordination. Bank officials said the centre is aligned with their broader strategy of deepening market penetration and supporting sustainable and inclusive expansion across geographies.
The complex comprises two basements, the ground floor and four levels.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Amitava Chatterjee briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the bank’s financial performance, noting that its overall business has crossed Rs 2.90 lakh crore. He described the commissioning of the centre as a strategic move to strengthen the bank’s business architecture in a key growth region rather than merely an addition to physical infrastructure.
The Regional Business Centre is also expected to consolidate the bank’s presence in the Jammu region, while advancing its push towards modernisation in line with evolving customer expectations. The building houses a currency chest, a state-of-the-art branch, multiple departmental offices, and dedicated operational and administrative units, significantly bolstering backend support functions.
Interestingly, while LG Manoj Sinha presided over the function and entire bureaucracy was invited, Chief Minister and the elected government was missing. Those presented included Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Principal Secretary to the LG Mandeep K. Bhandari, Executive Director Sudhir Gupta, board directors RK Chhibber and Arun Gandotra, and IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti, along with senior bank functionaries and officials from various departments, were present at the inaugural ceremony.
