LG Sinha Pushes Major Reforms, Approves Key Proposals in Cluster University Srinagar Council Meet

   

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday chaired the second meeting of the University Council of Cluster University of Srinagar at Lok Bhavan, Jammu, where a range of academic and administrative reforms were reviewed and approved in principle.

The meeting was attended by senior officials and academic leaders, including Vice Chancellors of the University of Jammu and Cluster University Jammu, top administrative officers, former vice chancellors from reputed universities, and members of the Cluster University Srinagar council.

During the meeting, the Council granted in-principle approval to several key proposals, including the establishment of the Abdul Ahad Azad Chair and the adoption of the postgraduate curriculum framework aligned with NEP 2020 and UGC guidelines.

The Lieutenant Governor directed the university to implement targeted reforms to enhance academic quality, strengthen student welfare, and modernize administration through full adoption of e-office systems. He also stressed the need for uniform recruitment rules for non-teaching staff across universities in the Union Territory to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Emphasising broader social responsibility, he called for greater student participation in initiatives such as “Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect” and intensified awareness campaigns under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. He said educational institutions must play a proactive role in addressing the drug menace and contributing to societal change.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor Prof Mohammad Mobin presented the university’s progress report, while the Registrar placed various agenda items before the Council for review and approval.
