SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday reviewed the situation following heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir, directing officials to expedite relief operations and restore damaged infrastructure in the affected areas.
The Lieutenant Governor spoke with senior officials to assess the impact of the adverse weather and instructed them to ensure swift relief measures and the early restoration of essential services.
In a post on X, Sinha expressed grief over the loss of two lives in Doda district.
“I spoke to senior officials today to assess the impact of heavy rains, flash floods and landslides. I am deeply saddened by the loss of two lives in Doda, and my heart goes out to their families,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor said emergency response teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army, had been deployed and remained on high alert in vulnerable areas.
He further said key roads in Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi and Udhampur had been reopened, while efforts to restore water supply in several affected areas were underway.
Sinha also directed field teams to carry out an urgent assessment of damage to residential houses and public infrastructure to facilitate timely relief and rehabilitation measures.
