LG Sinha Reviews Security, Anti-Drug Drive and Yatra Preparations in Jammu Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the security scenario across Jammu and Kashmir, assess the progress of the Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyaan, and take stock of district-wise preparations for upcoming pilgrimages, including Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, Shri Kausar Nag Yatra, and Shri Budha Amarnathji Yatra.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dullo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Special DG Coordination PHQ SJM Gillani, ADGP CID Nitish Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Dr. Mandeep Bhandari, and senior officials from the Health, Social Welfare, School Education departments, along with divisional and district administration officers from Jammu Division.

Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the prevailing law and order and security situation in their respective districts. They also presented updates on the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyaan and preparations for the forthcoming pilgrimages.

The Lieutenant Governor directed officials to ensure seamless coordination between the police, civil administration, and security forces. He emphasized the regular conduct of Block Diwas and Thana Diwas to strengthen public grievance redressal mechanisms.

Reiterating a tough stance on drug trafficking, Sinha called for outcome-based and whole-of-society efforts to combat the drug menace. He directed strict action against drug smugglers and peddlers and emphasized identifying narco-corridors in Jammu Division to dismantle trafficking networks. He also called for a scientific, region-wise study on substance abuse patterns and the development of a Vulnerability Index using WHO methodology.

On pilgrimage arrangements, the Lieutenant Governor instructed DCs and SSPs to conduct comprehensive district-level reviews to ensure smooth and secure conduct of the upcoming Yatras.

He further directed accelerated implementation of the Vibrant Villages Programme to enhance rural healthcare, development, economic transformation, and social upliftment, including 100 percent screening for non-communicable diseases.

Reaffirming security priorities, the Lieutenant Governor called for strengthening the security grid through enhanced inter-agency coordination and ordered strictest action against individuals and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) aiding or sheltering terrorist elements, reiterating zero tolerance towards threats to national security.
