SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid a visit to the Amarnath Yatra Base Camp at Baltal, where he conducted a comprehensive review of the arrangements made for the pilgrimage.
During his visit, the Lt Governor interacted with various officials from the Civil Administration, J&K Police, Central Armed Police Forces, and other stakeholders involved in ensuring the best possible arrangements for the devotees.
“Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra holds great relevance in our tradition and symbolizes peace, harmony, and inclusive growth. I could sense the exhilarating joy among the pilgrims at Baltal as they prepared for the Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrimage,” Sinha said. “The congregation of seekers and keepers of divine wisdom from across the country have gathered here to celebrate one of India’s oldest spiritual traditions.”
Sinha said the Yatra also reflects the unity in diversity of this enchanted land, with people from different faiths and sects coming together to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey for the seekers. It sows the seed of bliss and paves the way for inner transformation and the promotion of cultural ethos, he added,.
During the visit, the Lt. Governor thoroughly assessed the facilities, including healthcare, sanitation, communication, lodging, langar facilities, and the daily status of Yatris arriving at the Base Camp. He directed officials to deploy an adequate number of personnel, machinery, and road safety measures from the Sonamarg to Baltal route.
The Lt Governor also reviewed the operations of the DRDO Hospital and the Joint Police Control Room established at Baltal.
He commended the collective efforts of stakeholder departments, the Border Roads Organization (BRO), police, and security forces for widening tracks, installing safety railings at vulnerable stretches, and implementing elaborate security arrangements to ensure the safe and hassle-free pilgrimage of devotees.
The Lt Governor emphasized the increased holding areas and sufficient capacity to accommodate pilgrims in case of inclement weather conditions. He also highlighted the extensive arrangements made for pilgrim healthcare, including the full implementation of the Radio Frequency Identification System (RFID) and a special focus on sanitation and cleanliness. A significant number of emergency responders from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed as well.
