Awami National Conference (ANC) president Begum Khalida Shah released a book, “Life and Services of Late G M Shah at a function held at SKICC on Monday.

The book contains the life history and important events pertaining to Shah and it describes his personality in a better manner.

The function was attended by a number of political leaders including Senior vice president ANC, Muzafar Ahmed Shah, Additional General Secretary National Conference, Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal, Chairman National Panthers Party Prof Bhim Singh, Member Parliament Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri, MLA Langet Er Rashid, Dr Syed Nazir Geelani and senior Congress leader Gulchain Singh Chadak.

Describing late Gulam Muhammad Shah as a great statesman, the speakers in one voice said that Shah was well wisher of Kashmiri people and this is a fact that he never compromised with his principles.

As per a local news agency, CNS, they also said that G M Shah was an able and strict administrator. He was known for his integrity and sincerity. But he was not allowed to function. They said that Shah provided employment opportunities to the people of Kashmir and did wonders for them.

“Shah not only laid stress on the development but he also helped poor and needy. It was he, who entrusted permanent job orders to at least 60, 000 daily wagers. People of Kashmir will never forget his contributions,” the speakers said.

One of the speakers said that Shah was asked to abdicate by New Delhi after he refused to compromise with his principles. “Had he been a power monger, he could have enjoyed life time and compromised with his principles, but he did not. He kicked the power and acted as a true well wished of Kashmiri people. New Delhi asked him to abrogate Article 370 and induct more and more IAS and IPS officer in JK cadre which he bluntly refused,” the speaker said.
