SRINAGAR: Locals in north Kashmir’s Sopore rescued a man after he allegedly jumped into river Jhelum in a bid to end his life.

An elderly man was found by locals attempting to jump into river Jhelum at Chankhan bridge in Sopore.

After noticing his doubtful movements locals rushed towards him, however, in the meantime, he jumped into the river.

He was immediately rescued by the locals with their timely intervention.

Meanwhile, officials while confirming the incident said, that the man was rescued and hails from sopore village.

He has been shifted to the SDH hospital for necessary medical treatment, the official said. (KS)
