SRINAGAR: The resignation of Syed Ruhullah Mehdi as Member of Parliament from the Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency of Jammu and Kashmir has been formally accepted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla with effect from November 3, 2026.
A Gazette notification issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat on November 5 confirmed the acceptance of Mehdi’s resignation, formally ending his membership of the 18th Lok Sabha.
Mehdi had submitted his resignation on November 3, bringing his parliamentary tenure to an end following his decision to quit the National Conference.
He was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Srinagar constituency in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
With the Speaker accepting his resignation, the Srinagar parliamentary seat has fallen vacant.
