An earthquake measuring 4.0 on Richter scale struck Jammu and Kashmir in the morning of Monday. While no damage to life or property has so far emerged, reports said that many people in several areas in the Valley came out of their residences to protect themselves.

“An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale occurred at 6.06 a.m. on Monday,” Met Officials said.

“The epicentre of the quake was in Punjab’s Amritsar district.”
