A complete shutdown is being observed on Monday in south Kashmir’s Shopian, Pulwama districts in wake of the third phase of polls in Anantnag Lok Sabha seat amid high security.

All business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the roads.

Adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the elections in the districts.

As a precautionary measure, mobile Internet services have been suspended in the south Kashmir areas.

Train services between Baramulla and Banihal have also been cancelled for the day.

Eighteen candidates are in the fray for the Anantnag parliamentary constituency seat.

Joint Resistance Leadership –an amalgam of separatist bodies – has called for a shutdown today in Pulwama and Shopian districts.
