SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu, his Advisors, political parties and leaders have extended warm greetings to the people on the occasion of Mela Kheer Bhawani.
Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu Governor Malik in his message of greetings said that this festival symbolizes harmonised cultural ethos of Jammu and Kashmir and is reflective of its glorious pluralistic values.
He prayed for peace, harmony, progress and prosperity in the UT and well-being of its people.
The Lt Governor also urged the devotees to adopt the practice of worship at home in view of the emerging situation.
Lt Governor’s Advisors Farooq Ahmad Khan, Baseer Khan, K K Sharma and Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar also extended their greetings to the people, especially the Kashmiri Pandit community. “The holy festival epitomizes mutual brotherhood and communal harmony in UT which is a shining example of unity in diversity of cultures, regions and religions,” they said.
National Conference has greeted people in general and Kashmiri Pandits in particular on the eve of Mela Kheer Bhawani.
In their message party president Dr Farooq Abdullah, vice president Omar Abdullah said that Mela Kheer Bhawani symbolizes the multi-religious and tolerant ethos of J&K which has been an epitome of harmony and brotherhood since ages.
The duo wished the day to be a harbinger of happiness and peace in the State.
Meanwhile, district president and former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar also congratulated pandit community on Mela Kheer Bhavani and appealed people to strengthen the bond of togetherness between various sections of the society which Jammu & Kashmir has been proud of.
“I appeal the pandit brothers and sisters to pray for everlasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir and an end to the sufferings caused by the deadly Coronavirus,” he said.
President Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also extended warm greetings to the people on the eve of Mela Kheer Bhawani.
PDP spokesman said that for centuries the celebration of the Mela has been an epitome of harmony and brotherhood in the state and there is a need to strengthen the bond of togetherness between various sections of the society.
In felicitation message, PDP spokesman urged the pandit community to pray for JK’s prosperity and peace. He wished the day to be the harbinger of happiness and tranquillity in Jammu and Kashmir.
In his message, the Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari said the holy festival epitomizes mutual brotherhood and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. “This festival offers a shining example of unity in diversity of cultures, regions and religions for the whole world,” President JKAP remarked.
He prayed and hoped that this festival would usher in peace, progress and prosperity for the people of J&K. Bukhari said that Kashmiri Pandits are an important part of J&K’s pluralistic ethos and this distinctive culture is incomplete without the dignified return of Kashmiri Pandit brethren.
“The celebration of this festival which witnesses participation across the religious divide is the hallmark of the pluralistic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir,” Bukhari observed, adding that the Kheer Bhawani Mela will continue to be the manifestation of J&K’s age-old tradition of amity and brotherhood.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G A Mir in his message said felicitated people on the auspicious occasion of Mela Khir Bhawani and prayed for peace, stability and prosperity of the people.
JKPCC President GA Mir has felicitated people especially Kashmiri Pandit brethren on the very auspicious occasion of Mela Khir Bhavani and described the occasion as unique, a manifestation of the age-old tradition of togetherness and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mela Khir Bhawani is a momentous occasion in the history of Kashmir, reflecting the diversity, love and respect for each other irrespective of colour or religion, besides showing us the path of friendship and unity.
“I hope this auspicious occasion will usher in an era of peace and prosperity, bringing a smile on the faces of the people in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,” Mir said.
The occasion will be the harbinger of development and safety of the people, he added and said Mela Khir Bhawani will continue to lead us at the path of righteousness and truthfulness, he said.
