The families of three youth who were killed in fake Machil encounter in April 2010 have alleged that no action has been taken against the guilty and all the culprits involved should be brought to justice without any delay.
“The probe was mere an eyewash and even after three years nothing concrete was done to hang the killers,” they said.
Zahida Banoo, mother of 19 year old Mohammad Shafi Lone son of Abdul Rashid, Naseema Bano mother of Reyaz Ahmed Lone and Aisha mother of Shahzad Khan demanded that probe should be immediately completed and killers should be hanged.
“Our innocent sons were lured by Abbas Shah, the territorial army jawan, Basharat Lone and Abdul Hamid Bhat, while for sake of promotions and rewards Army Colonel D K Pathania, Major Maurya, Major Upinder, Subedar Satbir, Hawaldar Bir Singh, Sepoys Chandra Bhan, Nagendra Singh and Narendra Singh killed them in cold blood,” they said adding that probe is going on snail’s pace.
They said mere suspension or relieving of Army officers from their posts can’t give them justice. “We want that culprits should be given stern punishment so that no one in future will dare to commit such a heinous crime for sake of rewards and awards,” they said.
Pertinently, Colonel D K Pathania, Major Maurya, Major Upinder, Subedar Satbir, Hawaldar Bir Singh, Sepoys Chandra Bhan, Nagendra Singh and Narendra Singh and Abbas Hussain Shah of the Territorial Army (TA) besides two civilians Basharat Lone and Abdul Hamid Bhat have already been charged under sections 302 (murder), 364 (abduction), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intent) of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) for allegedly conspiring and kidnapping three youths from Sopore on the pretext of giving them jobs and later killing them in the higher reaches of Kupwara claiming they were terrorists.
