Srinagar

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Khan on Saturday said that machines have been deployed to clear snow from the roads while restoration of electricity in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley may take some time as damage is “huge”.

Talking to the news agency, he said control rooms in each district have been activated and snow clearance operations are undertaken.

“All snow clearance machines have been deployed on the ground to clear the snow where the depth of snow is 4 or more inches,” he said.

Dewatering stations have been activated and pumping stations installed in the low lying areas to clear the waterlogging.

“Electricity supply has been heavily disrupted because of the felling of trees on the power lines. The entire staff of PDD is on the ground trying to restore the electricity. But the damage is huge due to the uprooting of trees which fell on power lines,” he added. (GNS)
