PDP-BJPThe month-long dead lock over the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to end as BJP’s Ram Madhav met PDP president Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday evening.

BJP sources told KNS that the BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday evening at 5 to meet with PDP president Mehbooba Mufti at her Fairview residence at Gupkar.

“The meeting between the two leaders started at 5.30 pm and lasted for some hours,” sources said. Sources said that Madhav has left for Circuit House.

Sources said that BJP has agreed on the “conditions” put forth by the PDP chief and the formal announcement for the new government formation will be announced soon.

A top BJP leader said that the stage has been set for the new government formation in the state and Jammu and Kashmir would witness continuing the BJP-PDP coalition government.

Sources said that the BJP has agreed to return two hydro-power projects from NHPC to the state.

“The union government will consider revoking Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in a first phase from Srinagar and Kathua districts respectively on trial basis,” sources said.

They said that as the PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti had set “conditions” for re-entering into the alliance with BJP in the state and had pitched JK specific CBM’s.

Mehbooba Mufti, sources said, has asked the GoI for the revocation of the AFSPA from those areas wherein militancy related activities have declined from the past decade.

Sources said that the union government might agree to lift AFSPA from Srinagar and Kathua District in the first phase on trial basis.
