SRINAGAR: An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck near the city of Gerash in southern Iran on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The tremor occurred at a shallow depth of approximately 10 kilometres, the USGS said. There were no immediate reports of serious damage or casualties.
Southern Iran lies within the seismically active Zagros belt, a region prone to frequent earthquakes due to ongoing tectonic activity. Authorities have not issued any further advisories, and monitoring of the situation continues.
