SRINAGAR: An earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude struck Bangladesh on Friday, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre. The quake occurred at a depth of 35 km.
Tremors were felt in Kolkata and nearby districts of West Bengal on Friday afternoon, causing brief panic among residents. There were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage.
The shaking lasted a few seconds and was reported across multiple parts of the city and surrounding areas, including high-rise residential buildings and busy marketplaces.
