SRINAGAR: A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck Mexico City on Friday, triggering tremors across the capital, according to the national seismological service cited by AFP.
President Claudia Sheinbaum was forced to evacuate a press conference along with journalists when the quake occurred. Officials said the epicentre was located near the town of San Marcos in the southern state of Guerrero, close to the Pacific coast resort city of Acapulco.
The national seismological agency confirmed the details of the quake, while President Sheinbaum said there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. Authorities said monitoring was continuing to assess the situation.
