SRINAGAR: A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck off the Pacific island nation of Tonga on Tuesday, the United States Geological Survey said.

The quake was recorded approximately 153 kilometres west of Neiafu at a depth of 237.5 kilometres, the agency said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage following the tremor.
Authorities also confirmed that no tsunami warning was issued in the aftermath of the earthquake.
