SRINAGAR: In a significant administrative reshuffle ahead of the anticipated elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the government has transferred 89 officers, effective immediately. This reshuffle is seen as a strategic move by the government to strengthen the administrative framework in anticipation of the upcoming elections, ensuring effective governance and implementation of policies in the region.
The Election Commission of India had already directed the Jammu and Kashmir administration to shift the officers from their home districts or those whose transfer was overdue. Once the ECI notification is issued – it is anticipated to be on August 21, the moral code of conduct applies automatically to prevent any kind of major shift. The transfer order was issued by Sanjeev Sharma, Secretary, General Administrative Department in Jammu and Kashmir government.
