SRINAGAR: Cinematographer Krishna KR, a native of Perumbavoor, passed away in Srinagar at the age of 30, following a sudden cardiac arrest. Krishna, known for her remarkable skills and promising career, was part of the crew working on the third instalment of the Telugu Hit series, directed by Sailesh Kolanu. She had been enlisted as an associate to Malayalam filmmaker and cinematographer Sanu Varghese, the Director of Photography for the film.

Krishna had been participating in the film’s shooting schedules, which spanned locations across Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. However, during the ongoing shoot in Srinagar, she fell ill and was initially diagnosed with a chest infection. She was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Srinagar on December 23, where she underwent treatment and showed signs of recovery. Her family, including her brother, had travelled to be by her side during this period. Tragically, as she was about to be moved to the ward after demonstrating improvement, Krishna suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on Monday.
The news of her untimely demise was shared by the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), of which Krishna was a dedicated member. In an emotional statement, WCC expressed their grief, describing Krishna as a talented and passionate cinematographer whose contributions to the field would be remembered with admiration. They highlighted her unwavering commitment to her craft and extended heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones.
Krishna’s funeral will be held in her hometown, Perumbavoor. Further details about the arrangements are awaited. Her death has left the film fraternity and her colleagues in mourning, with many acknowledging her as a rising star whose potential was cut short too soon. May her soul rest in peace.
