SRINAGAR: In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the Cheki Audoora village in the Mawer area of Handwara, a man stands accused of brutally killing his wife. According to reliable sources, the gruesome event unfolded on the intervening nights of Wednesday and Thursday.

The suspect, identified as Mohammad Maqbool Mir, son of Ali Mohammad Mir, reportedly used a sharp object to carry out the heinous act against his wife. The victim’s name has been withheld, but she hails from Lawoosa village.

The attack resulted in the immediate death of the victim, leaving the area in mourning and disbelief. Upon receiving the distressing news, a police team swiftly arrived at the scene to gather essential details.

A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident to GNS  and disclosed that a case has been officially registered. “We are assessing the matter thoroughly,” the official stated. “It may take us some time to compile the full details. However, based on our preliminary investigations, we have ascertained the culpability of the husband in the gruesome murder of the woman.”

The news has left the community reeling, prompting widespread calls for justice and action against domestic violence. As investigations continue, the local authorities are under mounting pressure to ensure that the perpetrator faces the full force of the law.
