SRINAGAR: A man pretending to be an army officer has been apprehended for attempting to assault a class 12 student in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, media reports said.
The accused, identified as Sham Lal from the Ramgarh area, was arrested following a complaint filed by the girl. According to the complaint, Sham Lal posed as an Army Colonel brought the girl and her brother, a class 10 student, of Udhampur district to Vijaypur. He promised the duo to help them get enrolled in NCC and secure their recruitment in the belt force.
In the middle of the night, the accused made an attempt to assault the girl, who later sought help from the police.
Upon receiving the complaint, the police promptly registered FIR and took immediate action to apprehend the accused.
