Scores of patients and attendants face great inconvenience on Friday after doctors and Para Medical Staff of Trauma Hospital Kangan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district went for a strike demanding the arrest of an attendant who according to them allegedly misbehaved with a lady doctor.

Reports said that an attendant Javid Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Majid resident of Gunchi Mohalla Akhal Kangan  allegedly misbehaved with a lady doctor when the doctor reportedly showed some reluctance in taking care of the ailing wife of the attendant.

A doctor who was part of the protest told CNS that it has become a routine matter for attendants to assault and manhandle the medical staff in the hospital. The protesting staff demanded immediate arrest of the ‘erring’ attendant.

Reports said that due to the strike and protest staged by the medical staff, patients faced lot of inconvenience. Attendants alleged that not a single doctor attended the ailing patients for hours.

Medical Superintendent Trauma Hospital Kangan Dr Qazi Javid told CNS that they have already lodged an FIR against the culprit and police have assured swift action against him. He added that the medical staff has called off their strike and the hospital is functioning normally.

A police official told CNS that they registered an FIR vide 87/2014 under section 353 RPC against the accused and he has been arrested.
