Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a person involved in rape and murder of a minor girl in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A police spokesman in a statement said that Police Station Beerwah received a written complaint that a girl has been kidnapped.
He said that Rajinder Chouhan resident of Sitapur Uttar Pradesh at present working at Brickkiln stated that last evening on 02/08/0219 his 05-year-old daughter was kidnapped by one person namely Sushil Kumar Chouhan son of Harso Lal resident of Sitapur Uttar Pradesh who is also working at a brick kiln in Hayat pora area of Beerwah.
“Accordingly Budgam Police registered a case FIR No-134/2019 under relevant sections of law in P/S Beerwah and started searches to trace the missing girl. However, the dead body of said girl was retrieved by Police from nearby Nallah at Hayatpora,” said the spokesman.
“During the course of the investigation, officers learnt that the accused namely Sushil Kumar Chohan after kidnapping the girl had committed rape and murder of the said girl. Accused involved in the offence has been arrested and remains in Police custody,” he said.
“During the investigation, dead body of the said girl was sent for post mortem and completion of other medico-legal formalities. FSL team also visited the scene of the crime which was preserved by the officers investigating the case for gathering important, physical, biological and material evidence,” he added.
Further investigation in the matter is going on,” said police spokesman in a statement.
