A 30-year-old man was arrested Sunday on charges of raping a minor girl in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said.
Showket Ahmad Malik, a resident of Hatmulla area of Kupwara, was arrested on a complaint by the victim, who alleged that he had raped her, a police spokesman said.
The 16-year-old victim was medically examined at a hospital, where doctors confirmed rape.
Malik was arrested from Didikoot Road in the district, while trying to run away, a police spokesman said.
