Following calls for action from religious authorities, including Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, police detained the individual, identified as Abdul Razak Lone, son of Ghulam Ahmad Lone. According to officials, Lone appears to be mentally unsound and will be sent for psychiatric evaluation before any further legal proceedings take place.

In a statement, the Baramulla Police confirmed his apprehension. They urged the public to refrain from spreading rumours or misinformation about the incident on social media, warning that legal action would be taken against anyone inciting unrest. The police also reiterated their commitment to maintaining communal harmony and urged citizens to report any concerns through official channels.
