One person drowned in Dal lake, here on Saturday evening while three other persons, including a lady, attempted suicide in North Kashmir.
“A 23 years old man, Mehraj-U-Din Ganie, son of Mohammad Asadullah, resident of Heeng, Tangmarg drowned in Dal lake last evening,” a police statement said.
Giving details it said, “he was working at a Shop located in Nehru Park area. The body of deceased was fished out and handed over to his relatives.”
In other different incidents, three persons attempted suicide, including a lady.
“A 16 years old boy, Imran Ahmad Bhat resident of Heel Jageer in an attempt to end his life consumed some poisonous substance at his home,” the police statement said, adding, “The boy was immediately rushed to the SKIMS, Soura for treatment.”
Meanwhile, “Nasir Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Dilawar resident of Ijara, in the jurisdiction of Police station Boniyar attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his home,” it said. “He was shifted to hospital for treatment.”
In another attempt, a lady (name withheld) resident of Sogam, Kupwara tried to end her life.
The police, giving details said that the lady consumed some poisonous substance at her home. But her life was saved when she was shifted to Sub District Hospital Sogam for treatment.
