SRINAGAR: A man drowned in the River Jhelum at Vijbal Dubgaw in north Kashmir’s Sopore area while attempting to pull his boat towards the riverbank for repairs, officials said on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Gh. Mohi-u-Din, a resident of Sheer Colony.
A team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Sub-Component Sopore retrieved his body from the river following the incident.
According to officials, Mohi-u-Din was attempting to drag his boat towards the bank when he drowned.
The body was subsequently recovered by the SDRF team from the River Jhelum at Vijbal Dubgaw.
