SRINAGAR: After two separate incidents involving the death of two children, the sighting of a leopard presumed to be a man-eater has struck fear among inhabitants of Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports said that a leopard was spotted by villagers in Trikanjan Boniyar area this evening, creating a panic among the local populace. A Wildlife Department team has reached the area and has launched a widespread search operation to catch the beast.

In the meantime, civil and police administration made announcements on mosque loudspeakers urging people not to venture outside their homes until the beast is caught.

Quoting Range Officer Wildlife Department Baramulla Altaf Koul news agency GNS reported that two teams have been deputed and searches are being conducted to catch the animal to avoid any eventuality in the area.

Pertinent to mention here that two minor boys have fallen prey to wild animals in the last two days at Cholan Kalsi Ghati and Trikanjan Boniyar respectively.
