SRINAGAR: A late-night incident in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk on January 12 left bystanders stunned as a man climbed a pole near the iconic Ghanta Ghar to evade a pack of dogs. The dramatic scene, captured on video by a group of students from Kulgam, South Kashmir, unfolded around 3:00 a.m.

The students, who were recording the serene night view near the clock tower, were startled by loud barking. Upon investigating, they saw the man precariously perched on the pole, surrounded by four or five dogs aggressively barking at him.

One of the students attempted to help by using his car to drive the dogs away, but the effort proved futile. It was then that security personnel stationed nearby stepped in. They successfully dispersed the dogs and brought the man to safety.

Witnesses described the man, believed to be a tourist, as appearing intoxicated. “He seemed disoriented and unable to stand properly after being rescued,” said one of the students. Nearby tourists mentioned that they had earlier approached the man for directions but found him unable to respond coherently.
