The arrest follows a prompt investigation using CCTV footage and technical evidence, reaffirming Budgam Police’s zero-tolerance approach towards offences against women and minors.

In a statement, Police Station Chadoora received a complaint from two parents alleging that their minor daughters were attacked by an unknown man while returning from tuition, who sprayed a chemical substance into their eyes.

Accordingly, an FIR under Sections 62 and 137 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Chadoora, and an investigation was initiated. During the course of the investigation, CCTV footage and other technical evidence were analysed, leading to the identification of the suspect.

Subsequent questioning and searches revealed that Raja Furqan, son of Fayaz Ahmad Khan, a resident of Gowherpora, Chadoora, had carried out the act by spraying snow spray into the eyes of the victims.

The clothes and shoes worn by the accused at the time of the incident were recovered from his possession.

The accused has been identified by the victims and has been arrested. It has also come to light that the accused had allegedly attempted similar acts in the past but was let off by locals after admonishment, without any formal complaint. (KNC)
